More Information
Two-time Grammy-winning violinist Mads Tolling gained international renown as a member of the Turtle Island String Quartet. The group’s latest release was an awe-inspiring tribute to perhaps the greatest musician of our time (A Love Supreme: the Legacy of John Coltrane, Telarc, 2007.) As a featured soloist, his peerless virtuosity has earned him stage time with some of the heaviest names in jazz, including Stanley Clarke, Kenny Barron, Paquito d’Rivera, Joe Lovano and Stefon Harris. A most exciting development is his recent step into the limelight at the helm of the Mads Tolling Quartet. His self-produced bandleader debut (Speed of Light, 2008) makes a strong case for the violin’s potential to stretch the language of jazz.
