To say that Allison Miller is a diverse drummer would be an understatement. Her broad-ranging credits with Kenny Barron, Ani DeFranco, Peter Gabriel and more make a statement alone. Miller’s Boom Tic Boom band is comprised of leading-edge player’s featuring Myra Melford on piano, Jenny Scheinman on violin, Todd Sickafoose on bass and Miller on drum. Their second release as a band, No Morphine, No Lilies (April 2013). is at turns challenging and accessible, teasing and tough, virtuosic but never overbearing. It thrives on surprises and projects a vast array of tonal colors, rhythmic and harmonic shape-shifts and rich emotions. The end result is a modern sound with a full commitment to the groove.
