Post-Chromodal Out! represents the next step in composer/saxophonist Hafez Modirzadeh’s 30-year quest to create a seamless exchange of musical structures across many cultures. The project is the culmination of a system he refers to as “chromodality,” which he created to integrate Persian musical tones with Western tones. The result is a musical, cultural blend that breaks boundaries and creates new musical worlds. Joining Modizadeh on this journey is pianist Vijay Iyer, who is somewhat of a renaissance man in the jazz world, winning in five categories of DownBeat’s 2012 Annual Critics Poll including Jazz Artist of the Year, top Pianist and Rising Star Composer. |
