More Information
Founded in 1998 by veteran trumpeter/bandleader Ellen Seeling, The Montclair Women's Big Band merges an audacious sense of swing with tight ensemble work and inspired solos by some of the best jazz women in the San Francisco Bay Area. The group has steadily gained visibility through performances at the Grammy Foundation to Washington DC's Kennedy Center, and has appeared on NPR's popular "Piano Jazz"with Marian McPartland. Their self-titled debut album (Pivotal, 2005) has been described by Jazziz as a "blues-drenched gem that swings with dazzling aplomb." |
